Look out for his shoes!

This film is extreme fun, I've seen with my friends so many times that the VHS tape is badly worn. Luckily Troma has released this gold nugget on DVD.

What I've noticed about "The Stabilizer" is that there are "homages" to other movies. The scene where the Stabilizer is taken captive to meet Victor at a pool house is exactly like a scene from the James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only". And the picture of The Stabilizer in the death scene of the girlfriend looks very much like the poster from "Cobra", starring Sylvester Stallone.

Some gems in the movie:

The guy that says "babyyy, babyyy" and eats a lizard. The shot of what looks like the asscrack but actually is the armpit. The "Location Map".

I recommend "The Stabilizer" to everyone who likes action and insane violence. Two thumbs up!

Must Watch

There are some movies that you have to revisit when you are "grown-up" and living in "the city".Those movies take you back through time to drop you somewhere when you were a kid.This is one such movie.

Mohanlal and Sreenivasan team up again to woo the moviegoers.Both of them have their own styles.And this is very well shown in this movie where they act as foils.One with the slapstick comedy and the other with the wooden face and serious look and yet evoking as much laughter as the other.Kartika has also done her job well.

The movie is unpretentious,a refreshing change from the movies now,full of multiplexes and fast-food romance.If you haven't already seen it and call yourself a Malayalam movie fan,please stand corrected.Either watch it or drop the tag!

Enjoyable, well written Fast paced drama

After second leads in Palimos ng Pag-ibig and Tinik sa Dibdib, Dina Bonnevie finally got her own dramatic lead in the excellent Magdusa Ka! This was Dina's movie as Mahawi Man ang Ulap was to Hilda Koronel's. This is the story of Christine, Nida Blanca's daughter, who got pregnant and how she suffered the consequences of her decision.

All the actors are good, including Christopher De Leon who plays Rod, her boyfriend down to Jaclyn Jose who plays Rod's past time. Not to be outshone are the antagonists Angie Ferro and Pinky Amador. The dialogues are crisp, appropriate and even amusing at times. Watch out for Nida's classic line, "maawa? magdusa ka!", which took them many rehearsals before they got the perfect intonation. Some funny moments like Jay Ilagan's photo drew some laughs when I saw this in 86.

This was also Nida's movie. She plays a woman who finds it hard to forgive not only her daughter but also the father of her child, ably portrayed by Dindo Fernando. Her line "therefore I Am sorry, Bernardo, I also realize I don't need you" is one of my favorite in this movie. The movie is realistic enough not to end with everything perfect but there is hope that things will work out for our protagonist.

So bad, it's great!

Saw this flick 10 years ago with a couple of friends and a few beers and we were blown away! The storyline is confoundingly stupid, the dialogue so scarce and grotesquely bad that none of us were able to control ourselves. This is a rare gem, as most bad movies are just plain bad; this one takes bad to another level, and if you're ever able to find it, savor it with your friends, although drunkenness might be required ... A truly great moment is the scene where a rainbow seems to have been painted directly onto the celluloid with a couple of crayons, another is when our hero bandages himself with his torn yellow dirty t-shirt, only to wear the shirt, which has now been cleaned, for the duration of the movie without showing any signs of injury - oh, and the one-handed stick fight in which the villain and the hero fights with one foot long sticks - and never using the other hand to lash out at each other. I could keep going, but you have to see it for yourself - it doesn't get much better or worse!

WELTKLASSE... funniest film i have ever seen!

Of all the films I have ever seen, this film is the one i treasure the most. Full of action and drama, violence and sex, shootings, fistfights, three wheeled scooters and mopeds, bad guys, bad actors... It even has a stuntman getting killed eight times (the dude with the white hat - he gets run over by a car, shot, blown up - you name it). Starring Peter O'Brian as Rambu, and directed by the famous Punjabi brothers (Punjabi, Punjabi and Punjabi), our story opens up with a couple of goons (Charlie and Harry) driving recklessly down a pebble road. You hear the scream of tyres and a sound reminiscent of 200 pounds of dead meat hitting something solid... an old farmer woman picks up her stuff and Charlie yells "Watch where you're going bitch!" "I WAAAAAS" she replies. "Naah... women are all the same... think you can getaway with bullshitting me!" and at this point our hero emerges, a Sylvester Stallone lookalike with big ears. I must say he does actually look a lot like Sylvester Stallone... could it be his cousin ? I don't know, Bu he sure knows how to throw a tennis ball. He manages to kick the two moronic bad guys asses with this ball - it returns to Rambus hand every time he throws it like a sticky booger to your finger.

When the goons tries to escape in their car, Rambu foils their plan by hitting Charlie in the forehead with this ball, resulting in the car going down the ditch and bursting into fire. AND THIS IS JUST THE OPENING SCENE! I cannot do this film justice, YOU HAVE TO SEE IT! I have seen it more than 30 times and i still love it. I still discover new errors and details that i somehow missed earlier. From Rambus big ears to Charlies overgrown mustache, mopeds going so slow the riders can hardly keep the balance (filmed in slow motion so Rambu can do some acrobatic kicks and punches), nude scenes with below average oriental females (except one), to awful effects and terrible dubbing... Somehow it all makes sense when you see it. See this film - you wont regret it!

Waste of Time

Iniyum Kurukshethram is typical of the action movies in malayalam in 1980's where a corrupt and defunct system forces the protagonist to take up arms. Mohanlal is an upright Police Inspector who is in love with his morapennu Sobhana and lives with his cousin brother in his Uncle' house. Both the cousin brothers are in love with Sobhana their rich Uncle's only daughter. Mohanlal is in confrontation with C.I Paul the rich Abkari who is the defacto Govt in the town.

This might be one of the few films where the hero loses from beginning to end. The climax is a major letdown . The performances are above average but with an outdated script the movie pans out badly . At many places there was dragging and the Hero is shown ineffectual at most times.

The film may have been OK 25 years back but looks very bad now. I am giving 3/10 and avoid rating Waste of Time

Worth watching!!!

Having watched a few movies, I was a fan of Sanjeev Kumar's(Haribhai) performance. I wanted to give a try to this movie with an anticipation that will be a time-pass murder mystery. The movie wasn't a mystery. It was a story of a man for whom his world was his wife. He even loses his eyesight on the pretext of saving her life. But what does he get in return? Taking advantage of his blindness, his wife stages an illicit affair with his own friend. A friend who claims to be his best friend. Love-grieved by her unfaithfulness, back-stabbed by his friend and with physical disability, it could have been easy for him to continue what has been going on. But he decides to teach both of them a lesson. How he does that forms rest of the plot. Till this point the movie is good. From here on the movie turns out excellent. This movie is underrated and did not get the applause it deserved. A superb performance by late Haribhai, as a blind man plotting a task which would seem impossible for a blind person. He was a gem of an actor and had he been alive for few more years, we could have seen more of his good performances. Alas. The story is well written and well executed. Rest of the cast(Sarika, Ranjeeta and Marc Zuber) have justified their characters. The movie lacks in technicality. The picturization and presentation were not to the mark where the story was. This could be due to low budget. Overall, this movie is not worth missing for Haribhai's fans. If you are not his fan, after watching the movie you surely will be.
