Review :

A tale of "Indomitable Spirit"…..

No wonder the great thespian influenced many youngsters to get to their 'roots'. The movie is simple, yet elegant and conveys the message effectively, particularly to the youth. I could not resist feeling all through the movie that Dr. Raj is cut for the role (Rajeeva). Based on T.K. Rama Rao's novel, the movie revolves around the character Rajeeva and the director Siddalingaiah has exuberantly treated the Kannadigas to a Dr. Raj feast. As always, Dr. Raj has made 'Rajeeva' more alive with his integrity as an actor. Co-stars Balakrishna, Bharathi, Lakshmidevi, with their outstanding performances, are brilliant. Dr. Raj with his inimitable acting skills, plays the role of a man who gets back to village and takes up agriculture in order to financially support his sister's family. Determined, with the help of the village head and family friend Rachuthappa (Balakrishna), he transforms the land abandoned by the villagers as barren land, into a productive land and becomes rich. He takes up several responsibilities and strives restlessly to fulfill them all. Siddalingaiah, masterfully fabricates even the downhill of the plot. Dr.Raj effortlessly balances both the extremes. Undaunted by the setbacks, self-respect and integrity take over in the end. Climax is something that leaves an unceasing impression. Songs (Music: G.K. Venkatesh) add to the charm and are quite inspiring with great lyrics. Siddalingaiah has contributed a good number of movies to Kannada cinema and this movie made Dr. Raj an impeccable actor and is still considered as a milestone in his acting career. "Bangarada Manushya" is one of the greatest in Kannada cinema and a must watch. It is a movie that undoubtedly makes a difference in Indian cinema.
