Stop the presses for this outlandishly fun potboiler based on the famous Mexican comic book hero.
This silly movie has a couple of worthwhile moments to make it worth a look. First is the Rio location photography at the beginning; but the best thing is the chief villain's sidekick. A simpering octogenarian named Perfecto. I just loved Perfecto in his big scene where he's ordered to bend over and take a kick in the ass from his evil boss for attempting to think. Now on DVD for those looking for something truly different. Way better than THE HULK and DAREDEVIL flicks!
Wealthy Dr. Shivnath decides to adopt an injured orphan named Rajkumar, who has been separated from his sister, Munni, much to the chagrin of his wife, Janki, who resents him and reserves her love for her two biological children, Premnath and Sudha. Years later all the children have grown up, and Dr. Shivnath may have nothing but regret in adopting Rajkumar - who is not only living a dual life; getting into arguments and fisticuffs with Premnath; but may also soon be arrested by Inspector Chauhan for marketing and distributing fake currency.
Dhrati Ka Lal
PLOT
This is one of the common genre of Jeetendra Movies. He is Dharati Ka Lal - son of soil - a rural boy in a city. While in college he falls in love with Reena Roy and the feelings are mutual. Out of college - there is no job (familier lines from the earlier movies), he gets a job with Roy Sahib as he agrees to marry the blind daughter of Roy Sahib. Catch is she is elder sister of his college sweet heart. So Whats next? The title tells all.
DIRECTION This movie is a tear jerker and the ladies would like it more. Acting is good, Asha Parekh plays the blind girls role very well.
SONGS / MUSIC The songs in the movie are plain. The first song I remember is bacause of "dharati ke lal"'s mention in the song. Sung by my favorite Mukesh.
Overall 6.5/10 from me.
Vicente is as good an actor as is her is a singer
I am a big fan of Vicente Fernandez both as an actor as well as his singing. I probably have watched all his movies and La ley del Monte as well as El Arracadas might be the best ones. La ley del Monte is a compilation of feelings and you can almost feel the character's suffering. It begins as a love story set in the Mexican Revolution years and it ends as something comparable to the best Novela (Mexican soap). Every time I watch it, which is often, I get the chills at the end when Vicente shows up in the middle of the party and the Mariachis start playing the song "La Ley Del Monte". This scene is intense and you can see the love in his eyes as he's crying while singing to his beloved. He then goes to fight after saying goodbye to his mentor who is also the town's priest, and he goes off to fight only to have a spectacular and breath taking death in a short yet amusing battle against the soldiers.
Worth watching.
